Brief History Of Sungai Siput (U) Perak,
It is believed that the district of Sg. Siput (N) got its name a

the place "Sungai Siput".
In the early 30's a number of rubber plantations in Sungai Siput
district was managed by the British. The present main building which
housed the Sg. Siput Police Sub-District Headquarters was built in 1938.
The first emergency was declared 53years ago after the killing of three
British planters in Sg. Siput. Until late 1989 after the Communist
Partyof Malaya surrendered and gave up their armed strunggle, gave up
their Sg. Siput and its nearby areas of Jalong, Lintang and Lasah was a
black area where security forces conducted operations to flush out the
communist. Since then Sg. Siput has undergone vast economic development
and Sg. Siput is no longer a quiet town. The presence of factories,
estates and government offices has since turned Sg. Siput into quite a
very busy town.

Ubudiah Mosque
The mosque is an icon not only to Kuala Kangsar but to Malaysia as well. Built by British architects, it do reflected the more common mosque architecture built around that time. Go there during non-praying time since the parking space is available. Do respect the Muslims attending the pray but ask permission since I'm not sure is it ok for non-Muslim to enter the place or not. The mosque look big from the outside yet the hall is small compared to other mosque I went to and less adorned. But it do command a great view of the river & the town from one of its point. Check out also an abandoned mansion right next to the mosque since it reflect quite a unique architecture of the state.
Lata Iskandar
On your way up the winding road to Cameron Highlands, you certainly cannot miss the awesome sight of the Lata Iskandar waterfall. It is indeed a welcome sight after seeing nothing but trees for several kilometers up the winding hilly road.
The Lata Iskandar waterfall is located along the road from Tapah to Cameron Highlands, about 25km before Ringlet. It cascades over several tiers of granite slopes, with the last drop at 25 meters high flowing into a small pool below, before resuming its journey as a narrow stream.
